Hopefully Breathless - 48"h x 36"w x 1.5” - was created with acrylic paint and collage. Please be aware of my note about shipping on the Original Artwork main page.

This is only the third time I've created a piece that centers on romantic love or falling in love or perhaps being in love. This time I tried to capture the joy and the feelings of eagerness when a person realizes they are falling in love. My intention with the fruit (both the peaches in the trees and various collages of fruit which I put into the chair) is that they are symbols of sweetness and nourishment at the same time – like love. I also collaged flowers into the chair which represent the idea of new love blossoming, or springtime which is the season for falling in love. Even the color and texture of the chair itself is representative of the idea of love – pink velvet, which to me is just so romantic. In the rabbit’s chest there are two lovers embracing and sharing a kiss – I definitely wanted that scene to be right at the center of the piece. The peach cut in half on the chair next to the rabbit conveys the idea of vulnerability (heart wide open) and also the idea of offering oneself to another – which is something scary but exhilarating at the same time. Once again, Toby does a wonderful job capturing all of this in the poem.

Giclee quality reproductions are available on both canvas and paper.
