my piece “Moon song”
The video above has 6 frames which illustrate my process.
This shows the ephemera - bits of poetry, vintage prints, and sheet music - which I chose to use as the underlying layer of collage for the rocking horse.
This image shows all of the underlying collage elements, including for the fox, the remaining parts of the rocking horse, and the background where I used sewing patterns. All of this has been sealed onto the canvas with Liquitex brand gel medium.
Here I’ve painted into the collage elements to blend, add depth, and to bring the rocking horse and the fox to life. I use acrylic paint, at times with glazing mediums added to it.
I’ve begun to paint the background. I also worked into the candles. I’m thinking about adding trees in the foreground to better frame the rocking horse and fox.
I’ve finished the background and completed the trees in the foreground.
I complete the piece by painting a nightsky and a moon.
Images of the piece are below - including details.
