Not surprisingly, Michelle worked on and completed this piece at the same time as its companion piece, Between the Hills. It was December of 2014 and when she took them to their very first show in January of 2015, they sold as a pair. As giclee reproductions they also frequently sell as a pair. There is something about how Michelle created the very recognizable look of birch tree bark using book pages, letters, sheet music and pieces of vintage prints that is just so captivating.
